What is ISaGRAF
ISaGRAF is a complete industrial
software package consisting of Soft Logic Programming Tools,
a Runtime execution engine and custom VAR / OEM development
tools for automation control applications. ISaGRAF was
designed to turn any industrial computer into a high
performance, yet inexpensive Soft Logic Controller. ISaGRAF
is based on the only internationally recognised industrial
standard for industrial automation control languages, the IEC
1131-3.
ISaGRAF was the first Windows-based
development environment to fully support all five of the PLC
languages: Sequential Function Chart (SFC), Function Block
Diagram (FBD), Ladder Diagram (LD), Structured Text (ST), and
Instruction List (IL). Additionally, for the ultimate in
power and flexibility, ISaGRAF supports functions and
function blocks written in C and/or IEC1131-3 languages.

The
Runtime Kernel
The ISaGRAF Runtime Kernel is a
portable execution engine that has similar behaviour to
traditional Programmable Controllers (PLCs), but exceeds them
in performance and flexibility. The ISaGRAF Runtime Kernel
also has additional functionality, which greatly expands and
enhances the application possibilities. Communications,
process control, SCADA and motion control are now all
possible in a single control environment without special
hardware.
For OEM's, VAR's and maker of
computer-based control systems and software, we offer a full
suite of 'C' development products to allow customisation of
the Runtime Kernel, but still using the standard ISaGRAF
Workbench for user programming. This means that any control
system that has the ISaGRAF Runtime embedded uses the same
Windows Workbench as any other system using the ISaGRAF
Runtime. End user now only need one development environment
including the suite of standard languages. You are free to
choose the hardware supplier offering the best match of
functionality, price and performance, based on the needs of
the application.

operating systems, we have OS specific source files to cut
the development time even further. If you need special
communications, seamless linkage to other windows
applications, or special help entries for your hardware, we
have the ISaGRAF Workbench Development Kit to give the
standard product your extra touch. For the developer looking
for a completely customised Workbench, we can build one just
for you.
For the ultimate in open systems, the
executable code prepared and compiled by the ISaGRAF
Workbench is now available for free in the public domain. The
high volume embedded manufacturer can make their own Runtime
engine without royalty or restriction, yet use the standard
ISaGRAF Windows Workbench.

Real
- Time Soft Logic and PC Control
Off-the-shelf Runtime
packages are available for DOS, Windows NT, VxWorks and OS-9
operating systems. These Runtimes can be installed on open
architecture PCs and board level computers such as VME,
Compact PCI, PC104 etc. for true plug-and-play capabilities
without compromising standards or performance.
The ISaGRAF Runtime Kernel
has also been successfully ported on QNX, VRTX, pSOS, etc.
and on many proprietary operating systems and a wide variety
of PC based, board level and embedded target hardware
systems. Standard I/O interfaces can be used, or custom I/O
can be added using the Easy I/O(TM) Driver
Development Tools. With these tools, OEM's with basic 'C'
code programming capabilities can make custom I/O drivers for
specialised I/O interfaces on standard hardware platforms.

Windows NT Runtime
For less demanding
applications, Windows NT can be a low cost, medium
performance choice for pure PC-based control. Many users wish
to incorporate Windows development tools, MMI or OIT
software, control logic execution and PC-based IO interfaces
on a single CPU and hardware platform. Such
"self-hosted" configurations are made easy with the
ISaGRAF NT Runtime. Simply install the Windows Workbench,
install the NT Runtime as a separate task on NT, and connect
the two as if they were on separate CPU's.
With careful system
configuration of the NT platform, a soft real-time
performance of 1 millisecond response can be achieved on a
standard industrial PC without special co-processors or
supplemental OS. New hard real-time extensions for NT (when
proven) will be fully supported by ISaGRAF.
I/O drivers can be
easily added using the Easy I/O(TM) development
tool. This DLL template allows development and connection of
third party I/O drivers to the NT Runtime without the need
for custom compiling or linking. Enhanced connectivity via
DDE, POC and custom I/O drivers can be simultaneously
supported. Many ISaGRAF ready drivers are available from I/O
manufacturers and specialty software third party developers.

The Workbench
The ISaGRAF workbench is
a Windows based software development environment used to
create control logic programs written in any of all of the
five IEC1131-3 languages. It is also a fully featured set of
tools providing editing, debugging, code generation,
documentation, library management, archiving, on-line
monitoring, off-line simulation and on-line change of
projects made for execution by the ISaGRAF Runtime kernel.
The Workbench runs on
Windows 3.1, 3.11, 95 or NT, OS/2 and all Windows emulation
packages. Any ISaGRAF Workbench can be used with any target
system that uses the ISaGRAF Runtime kernel. The ISaGRAF
Workbench and documentation is available in English, French,
German and Japanese, with other languages to be added in the
future.

Quick LD (TM)
The new QuickLD(TM)
editor is only one of many recent enhancements to ISaGRAF.
Programming is now
simpler, editing program is faster, and monitoring programs
on-line couldn't be easier. The editor is instantly familiar
to the experienced ladder diagram programmer, and intuitive
to the novice programmer. Use point-and-click combined with
keyboard commands to accomplish your logic development.
